Time to Break Out the PDA
Wow, I'm busy. For real. I've got enough stuff going on that I need to write it all down (handy how they provide calendars with email, isn't it?) or I'm going to forget it. (Yes, my good friends know I already forget things even when I'm not that busy...) Funny thing is, I have a PDA. I should probably start using it again, huh?
See, I used to have a Palm Vx a few years ago, and I loved that thing. I used it all the bleepin' time. Phone numbers, addresses, meetings for work (back when I was forced into pretending to be a project manager and did nothing all day but schedule and attend meetings), hell I'd even read eBooks on it on the bus. Then one day, I went out with HV and Dhavid and got horribly, devastatingly drunk and left my Palm in my purse, and my purse on the floor of a cab. (I left part of my soul in a garbage can outside Maggiano's, too - thanks again HV for holding my hair... and thanks Dhavid for miraculously getting my license and credit cards back that night. Your blog was spot-on - you've earned the right to be selfish, you really do spend so much time and energy on all of us. :) So, anyway, no more Palm. [sigh]
I got a spiffy new HP3850 a few months later, and it's definitely cool, but by the time I got it (there had been a loooong waitlist for it, since it had just come out and was cool and in color, Back in the Day, when this was a new thing) I wasn't a project manager anymore (hooray!) and I didn't have meetings all the time. So I never really got back in the habit of using it. It's been a shiny, pretty, expensive paperweight (and occasional cat toy, much to my chagrin) for a while now. I think I'm gonna bring it to work and set it up. For real this time. See if I can manage to stop double-booking myself for things, because I'm getting a little tired of that. (My friends, when you say "hey come do so-and-so next week" and I get a foggy look in my eye and stare off into space and say something vague about how it sounds nice, but I might have something else going on only I can't remember what, I'm not lying. I really might have something else going on, and I swear to God I can't remember what it is. Or if it's in fact happening on that day, instead of some other day.)
Most of the time I seem to get around okay without having to take notes, but lately my evenings have started getting a bit crowded and it's all too important to miss. As it is, if I want to see Shaun of the Dead on a weekend night before my free movie ticket expires in November, I have to go this Friday or I'll miss it because of all the other stuff going on every other weekend night this month. It's not like weekdays are all that much better with karate, either... (Speaking of which, I have to get cracking on those essays! Ack.) It's only the 14th! How has my life become so busy that my first free weekend night isn't until November 6th? Oy.
Other miscellaneous things:
- Congrats to Tallulah on the rockin' new job! We'll come check you out as soon as you tell us it's okay. :)
- Condolences to KarateKat (who doesn't know this forum exists) on the passing of her grandmother. I hope you're okay, hon. Give the kitties some extra hugs for me.
- Congrats to Dhavid for getting kicked out of class (it was a good thing)
- Congrats to Mom for her shiny new laptop! You did all the research, you took your time, and you got what you wanted. Be proud! And be online a lot! :) (And don't let Dad tinker with it too much... :D Hi Dad... :)
- Congrats to HV on surviving her weekend. Let her serve as a reminder to us that it is always important to make sure your closet ceilings are clean.
- Congrats to my brother "Roy" (I feel like if I don't put the quotes around it that you'll think that's really his name...) for making the short list of candidates for a certain job. You rock, sir! You are perfect for that position, and it sounds like they know it! :) I hope the rest of it goes as smoothly, and perhaps a bit more quickly, for you. :)
- Congrats to HV again for actually waiting to open a present! PonyBoy gave her a housewarming gift and made her promise not to open it til later, and she's actually keeping her promise! You go, girl! You're so ready for 30...
Think that's about it. Almost time to leave for this evening's scheduled activities...
Peace,
- J.

Well, I deserve only partial congratulations -- the only reason I waited until I got home to open my present, is due to the fact that I needed scissors to get inside the box, and there were none in my car!!
