Call Me Joan

What's in a name? "Joan" might be bland, it might be exciting - it all depends on the context. Read on for my own little unique take on the universe and watch me try to figure out what face I want to present to the world each day.

Survival of the Meanest

It's official, I no longer care about Survivor. I may continue to watch it, but I think I'm finally done being a Survivor addict. It's just crap now.

What made it good TV when it started was how it made you think through the psychology behind who got kicked off. In that first season you didn't know there were alliances, you thought everybody was playing for him/herself. When you finally realized what was going on, it was great to see how it all fit together. That, and it was a totally new concept, and the challenges were fun to watch.

Now, however many seasons later, it's old. I'm tired of watching young hottie sorority chicks with big egos see who can outstrut, outho, and outbackstab (while wearing as little as possible). I hate hearing the age groups complain about each other. I hate watching people argue. I hate all of the finger-pointing, the smugness of those in security, the bitchiness, the laziness, the grudges. I'm done.

The only two people this season that interest me whatsoever are Scout and Chip. But I can't stand the rest of it to want to watch and see what happens to them. Besides, if I like them, then they don't have a chance in hell, and I'll just get mad all over again when they get voted off. So maybe I'll watch, maybe I won't, maybe I'll catch up the website.. but I've now officially checked out.

I do still like America's Next Top Model. And yes, there's a lot of hotties with egos, a LOT of strutting, a lot of arguing and complaining... but it's still different somehow. They're not ganging up on each other, I guess. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that there are no guys, or no age groups. No one has a clear advantage at the beginning of every competition. It's certainly a lot more diverse. I don't know. I'm too tired to figure it out right now. It's time to watch Miss Marple (something on the complete opposite end of the entertainment spectrum) and go to bed.

Night all.
-Joan
