Call Me Joan

What's in a name? "Joan" might be bland, it might be exciting - it all depends on the context. Read on for my own little unique take on the universe and watch me try to figure out what face I want to present to the world each day.

How Bout Them Apples?

Apparently I was a little confused about my kindergarten story. Here's an excerpt of an email from my mom (nickname: "Mom") that sets the record straight. She should know!
Just thought I'd comment about the apples story in your blog. You have it backwards! You were coloring your apples all differently -- green, yellow and red. The teacher said that was "wrong," and you came home and told me. So I marched into school and asked what exactly was wrong there. And she said that apples were red, not any other color.

I reminded her that Granny Smiths were green, golden delicious were, well, yellow, but she was unconvinced. In kindergarten coloring class, apples are red. Period.

So you see, you are not the stolid, narrow-focused uncreative person you think you are. You have been pushing the envelope since you were five years old!
Ta da! And all this time I've been thinking I'm so uncreative... I'm still pretty sure I'm one of those math/science/logic folks, but I'm glad to know I've got such untapped roots running through me!

Karate update: 60 down, 15 to go. Wooo! I can smell it - 5 weeks to go til the test.

Everyone send your love and get-well-soon wishes to Dhavid Lakota, who was out sick from work today. (All of a sudden I feel like I'm in church: "Everyone pray for Joe Smith and his family, who suffered a devastating loss when a rhinocerous stormed down their front door and viciously violated their pet dog Fifi.") Anyway Dhave, feel better (and watch out for those rhinos).

Too late to sort change tonight, I think - I spent half an hour setting up my new Uniden expandable cordless phone system (which involved moving furniture so I could "optimize" things in the bedroom in terms of power cords and such - I'm not sure my headboard survived unscathed, but go me for being able to lift my darn heavy-ass bed by myself!), it's 11:00, and I still haven't had dinner yet. I hear the coin sorter calling to me.... Massster... Feed Me.... (yes Dhavid and Tallula, that was an obscure ED reference - I haven't forgotten everything. :)

11:15 - need to get moving. Hope you all had as crazy and fun a Monday as I did!

- Joan the, uh, Creative. (How uncreative? :)
